FRIDAY:

This looks awesome: “FREE-MIX-Free Ya Mind and Your Swag Follow (FB event) sponsored by Oregon Universal and Portland State University-University Studies department. The talent showcase provides a platform for youth to express their gifts and talents in front of their community and receive praise and appreciation for positive artistic expression. We also provide prizes to the top three audience approved winners.” Smith Hall, PSU * 7 PM * free

Part of Portland Community College’s African film festival, Restless City is a look at a West African immigrant in New York City who has to start at the bottom in America, selling CDs on the street. His struggle for the American dream is complicated with he falls in love with a prostitute and is forced to make some “difficult decisions”, as the summary says. PCC Cascadia Campus, Moriarty Arts & Humanities Building, Room 104 * 7:30 PM * free

SATURDAY:

Outpost is playing tonight; they’re always a good time. Sol Seed accompanies. I’d never heard them before, and I’m digging it. “Mind to the World” on their link to Myspace is a sweet track. Here’s Outpost:

Tonic Lounge, 3100 NE Sandy * 9 pm * $8

Apparently between trips to Alaska and NYC for art installations my friend Candice has started DJing. She’s an amazing artist who lives life in a swirl of glittery times and beautiful people. Glam night at the horror-themed bar with Deathrainbow. Sounds epic. The Lovecraft, 421 SE Grand

Have a great weekend! Stay safe and have fun.
