When it comes to supporting independent media, community media outlets like Open Signal and Metro East provide much to the Portland area including training, equipment, studio space, and an opportunity to broadcast on local cable stations.
A proposed regulation change could eliminate local oversight and funding for this community service. Until December 14th, the Federal Communications Commission is taking comment on the issue.
