Beginning today, a historic heat event is coming to the Portland area.

The City of Portland are opening cooling centers— and the East Portland option is at Midland Library (805 SE 122nd Ave.), Holgate Library (7905 SE Holgate Blvd), and Gresham Library (385 NW Miller Ave, Gresham, OR), which will offer extended hours (from noon to 8 p.m.) through Monday.

Residents can dial 211 for free transportation to cooling centers. Trimet are not charging passengers to cooling centers, Willamette week reports.

It’s also good to note the pool at the Montavilla Community Center (8219 NE Glisan St.) is open!

Also, some Portland parks have splash pools & interactive fountains:

82nd Ave transfer

The Oregon State Legislature has granted $80 million to transfer 82nd Avenue to the City of Portland.

It’s a big deal because neither State nor City wanted to take on the cost of bringing the road up to the City’s standards Bike Portland reports— and its condition has suffered for that.

Read more at Bike Portland here— and look forward to a Village Portland multi-media collaboration with Publisher/Editor Jonathan Maus coming soon!

Farmers markets are a great way to support local agriculture, but there’s another way to invest on the front end: Community Supported Agriculture.
