Introduction to Seed Saving at Midland Library. Presented by Grow Portland, a non-profit dedicated to growing food in the city. “Come learn to save your favorite fall crop seeds! Each participant will receive a printed seed saving guide.” Registration (here) is required. The event is on a waiting list at the Holgate Library. 1 pm – 4 pm * free

Portland Parks & Recreation Urban Forestry is proud to present the Fall Neighborhood Tree Steward Training Program begins Saturday. The cost of the course is $25, and scholarships are available. “This seven session course will provide an overview of: tree biology, tree identification, tree pruning and maintenance, proper planting technique, ecosystem services, pests and pathogens of the urban forest, and urban forest management and policy.” For more information visit the program’s web page.
