FRIDAY
It’s First Friday in Montavilla.
At 10 am Micah & Me is playing at Beanstalk. Later in in the day join Union Rose for a trunk show from Carolyn Hart & Moss Handmade. Montavilla Brew Works will be showing off their beautiful patio with live music & free beer samples at 5 pm.
Also, from the FB event page:
Look for vendor tables from the Montavilla Farmers Market (opening this year on Sunday May 15th) & Sunlight Solar Energy.
There’ll also be prints of Lindsey Saunders beautiful Montavilla First Friday artwork available for just $10 available at local Montavilla businesses!
And at Milepost 5, the second month of the current installation. Apparently the second-month parties aren’t as big, but there will be an artists’ reception.
The installations:
Lindsey Dole & Nik O’Hara are in the Denizen Gallery with Out of Hand: “From hieroglyphics to emoticons, symbolism has been the voice that is understood through every age and language. We aim at getting to the root of a thought or an idea by illustrating it in the simplest of forms.”
Mutant Forest is in Gallery 5 with Body Language, a interactive audio visual installation. This one is really fun… sensors and computers react to movement and touch, triggering changes to the lights, sounds, and on-screen visuals.
Ari Frietag is in the Lofts Gallery with Nebule: “After intuitively creating abstract compositions in ink, I [Frietag] searched them for looming clouds, brackish water, mossy forest floors, bone fragments, sun-bleached seaweed. I brought these organic forms and landscapes to the fore by carving tiny portholes around them or outlining their hazy shapes, to create something both alluring and vaguely threatening.”
